Cathédrale Notre Dame d’Amiens

On the 5th January, we visited Amiens and mostly spent time in and around the breathtaking cathedral. It’s designated a national monument, unsurprisingly, and took about half a century to build – phenomenally fast considering the level of detail and sheer volume of statuary it boasts.

Predictably, many photos were taken and a few of them are here. Where possible, I’ve given some information about them. I found the cathedral to be a very peaceful building, reminding me strongly of the atmosphere at Canterbury Cathedral, and I definitely want to go back – might be nice to see some of the rest of Amiens too, though!
